Performed during Toronto Dragon Festival

As part of my passion for cultural exchange and music, I had the opportunity to perform on the sanxian, a traditional Chinese three-stringed instrument, at Nathan Phillips Square during the Toronto Dragon Festival.

The event was a celebration of multiculturalism, attracting thousands of attendees from various backgrounds. My performance included a solo piece that blended traditional Chinese melodies with contemporary elements, showcasing the versatility and rich heritage of the sanxian.

This experience not only allowed me to contribute to the cultural diversity of the festival but also enhanced my skills in live performance and audience engagement.

A Year in the Making: Our Drama Club Performance Journey

Over the year of 2022, I dedicated myself to an incredible journey with my drama club. We spent countless hours rehearsing, collaborating, and refining our performance. The experience culminated in a live drama production that was both challenging and rewarding. This experience not only honed my acting skills but also taught me the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and creative expression.

Outstanding Cultural Contribution by Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Canada

Following my performance at the Toronto Dragon Festival, I was honored to receive the “Outstanding Cultural Contribution” award from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Canada. This award recognized my efforts to promote Chinese culture through my sanxian performances at this significant cultural event. The festival was a unique opportunity to share the beauty of traditional Chinese music with a broad audience, and this recognition underscores the impact of my contribution to the cultural vibrancy of the community. It motivates me to continue my journey of cultural exchange and artistic expression.

Performance with Toronto Artist Symphony Orchestra

On October 14, 2023, I had the honor of performing the sanxian with the Toronto Artist Symphony Orchestra at George Weston Recital Hall, Meridian Arts Centre. The concert was a significant event where I showcased traditional Chinese music, blending it seamlessly with the orchestral pieces performed by the ensemble. This experience was a unique opportunity to share the rich cultural heritage of the sanxian with a broader audience and collaborate with talented musicians from diverse backgrounds. The event was well-received, highlighting the power of music as a bridge between cultures.

Bible Study Group

When I first came to Canada, I joined this Bible study group as a way to practice my English and engage with the local community. What started as a way to improve my language skills has grown into something much more meaningful—a supportive community where we explore faith, share insights, and build lasting friendships. I’m truly grateful for the connections and experiences I’ve gained through this group.
